Abbotsford Senior Incident

Dear ADTA Members,
 
I want you to know how saddened Jennifer and I both are by the recent tragedies that took place at Abbotsford Senior on Tuesday.  Like you, we are both horrified at what appears to be the randomness of the violence unleashed upon our students and co-workers and our greater school community. 
 
I have been in contact with the District and they have assured me that over the coming days there will be a number of supports put in place for teachers; for this I am greatly appreciative.  If you are currently struggling in any way as a result of this event or feel you need support weeks from now when the shock of this has abated, please do not hesitate to contact either Jennifer or myself. 
 
So you are aware, apart from the resources provided through sick leave provisions in the Collective Agreement and the District Employee Assistance Plan, there is also possible additional support that could be accessed through you filing a WCB claim as a result of violence in the workplace.  If you have any questions about where best to locate supports either now or in the future, please feel free to contact the ADTA at 604-854-1946.
